The Canal du Midi

The Canal du Midi, recently designated a 'World Heritage' site, is the oldest canal in Europe that is still in use. It was constructed in 1661 and completed in 1681. With its link to the River Garonne it joins the Mediterranean to the Atlantic.

Its' tree-lined towpaths and barges provide a very special feature of the region and is, only a five minute walk from 'La Tour', on the outskirts of the village.

It is the ideal place to laze, sit and doze and wave to the passing boats. If you are feeling adventurous boats can be hired by the day and trips can be taken.
