Minerve

Minerve is located at 45 km of Carcassonne, 30 km of Narbonne. Altitude: 150 meters.

Having given its name to the area, le Minervois, the city of Minerve is a village perched at the southern end of the Causse, with the confluence of the two rivers Cesse and Brian which notches it, encircled by imposing rock walls. Minerve is a historical village which one cannot forget and who is on the list of the 100 most beautiful villages of France.

The natural bridges that one can traverse by foot in summer, were excavated at 250 and 110 meters by the Cesse which perforated the mountain under its own meanders.

Many caves and rock shelters testify the use of the site by man since the prehistory. But the most outstanding signs of this old presence are the dolmens strewed about the canton which gave its name to the area.
